Les œuvres de Miró mises aux enchères pour les réfugiés

Jeudi 19 mai dernier, la maison Christie’s organisait une vente aux enchères durant laquelle des œuvres du peintre espagnol Miró ont été proposées. En tout, 28 toiles ont trouvé acquéreurs pour la somme de 61 600 €. La totalité des gains sera reversée à la Croix rouge afin de soutenir l’ONG dans l’assistance qu’elle fournit aux réfugiés.

Des gains qui dépassent les estimations

En organisant la vente aux enchères, la maison Christie’s estimait l’ensemble des lots à 50 000 €. À l’issue de l’évènement, les gains amassés ont pourtant dépassé cette estimation. Les 28 tableaux se sont en effet vendus à 47 600 livres sterling (61 600 euros). Joan Punyet Miró, petit fils du peintre, avait souhaité que cette somme soit entièrement reversée à la Croix-Rouge. Il confie que son grand-père aurait fait de même. « Je me considère comme l'exécutant de ses volontés et j'aspire à faire ce que lui-même aurait fait s'il était toujours vivant », affirme-t-il à l’issue de la vente aux enchères.

Une histoire personnelle entre Miró et la Croix-Rouge

« Miró a traversé beaucoup d'épreuves dans sa vie. Il a connu la faim, l'exil pendant la guerre civile espagnole, la Seconde Guerre mondiale et connaissait la désolation des camps de réfugiés », explique son petit fils. Le choix de reverser la somme à la Croix rouge s’explique par contre par le fait que l’ONG avait sauvé la fille du peintre qui a subi un grave accident en 1965.
